INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Susan G. Komen Central Indiana is awarding a total of $883,000 in Community Impact Grants to 12 breast health programs in its 21-county service area.
Over the years, Komen Central Indiana has awarded more than $15 million in Community Impact Grants to local organizations that deliver breast health services in 21 central Indiana counties. Grant funds cover screenings (clinical breast exams and mammograms), diagnostics (biopsies and ultrasounds), treatment assistance, health care navigation, medication assistance and support services, such as transportation, to help ensure women complete treatment with the support they need but can’t afford.
“We are so proud of the work Komen Central Indiana grantees do to help local women, men and families overcome breast cancer with access to healthcare and navigating treatment. It is because of the terrific community support for Susan G. Komen Central Indiana that we can continue to make an impact through these grants.” said Executive Director of Komen Central Indiana, Natalie Sutton.
More than 1000 women have been diagnosed with breast cancer as a result of Komen grant dollars in central Indiana, making it possible for them to receive the treatment they need. In the past year, Komen grant funding reached over 30,000 Hoosiers with life-saving breast health services including mammograms, diagnostics, patient navigation and survivor support.
Little Red Door Director and CEO, Fred Duncan, said “The grant we receive from Susan G. Komen Central Indiana allows us to provide mammograms to a group of women who would not be able to receive them otherwise. We are so grateful for our partnership with Komen and that with their support, we can serve more people in the central Indiana community.”

Komen Central Indiana focuses on serving underinsured and uninsured individuals to ensure quality care for all.
The 2015 grant recipients, their breast health programs and county/counties served:
– Boone County Community Clinic: Breast Cancer Screening & Education. Boone, Clinton and Montgomery Counties.
– Cancer Services of East Central Indiana: “Reaching Out” Breast Health. Delaware County.
– Cancer Services of Grant County: Breast Education Screening & Survival. Grant County.
– Columbus Regional Hospital: Mammography Assistance Program. Bartholomew, Brown and Johnson Counties.
– Eskenazi Health: EMBRACE – Patient Navigation, Provider Education & Expanded Spanish Interpretation Service. Marion County.
– Gennesaret Free Clinic: Connections to Early Detection. Marion County.
– Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation: Andis Women’s Clinic. Hancock, Henry, Marion, Rush and Shelby Counties.
– Interlocal Community Action Program: Mammogram Assistance Program. Henry County.
– Learning Network of Clinton County: Breast Cancer Access & Education for Hispanic Women in Clinton County. Clinton County.
– Little Red Door Cancer Agency: Breast Health Access and Navigation. Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion and Shelby Counties.
– Rush Memorial Hospital: Patient navigation through breast cancer screenings, diagnostic services and treatment support. Rush County.
– YWCA of Greater Lafayette: YWCA Women’s Cancer Program. Boone, Clinton, Hamilton, Howard, Montgomery, Tippecanoe and Tipton Counties.
