Schedule Set For Fort Wayne Maker FairePosted: Updated:
The Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire is set for the weekend of August 8. The event will include specialists in metal, wood and electronics. April 2, 2015
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - It's no joke. We're really excited to accept registrations for exhibitors at the Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire scheduled August 8 & 9, 2015. We can't believe this is the fifth Faire to be held at The beautiful Headwaters Park East - Lincoln Pavilion.
This family friendly event is so unique. It combines traditional fair fun like entertainment throughout the weekend, and handmade items and local food for purchase, with the rare chance to see projects from Makers of all kinds and from a wide variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Makers who specialize in metal, wood, fire (we hope), electronics, fabric, paper, and more will be there. Our motto is one of everything and five of nothing at Maker Faire Fort Wayne.
Guests get to try their hand at welding for free; learn basic soldering techniques (for a small fee), see weird vehicles, "ride rides", Make & Take things, and have all kinds of fun. As importantly, Makers will be making at Maker Faire or at least help folks understand tools, materials and tricks used in their special projects. Everyone who comes walks away with smiles on their face and the desire to make something new.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for event updates. We're seeking attraction ideas such as fun art cars, speakers, or quirky things in which the public might be interested so let us know what you might like to see. There will also be projects to build so visit us at the Maker Faire to see what new skills you can learn.
To Register as a Maker, Commercial Maker, or Vendor
If you like to tinker or are passionate about technology, art making, or any other projects you want to share with others, this is the event for you. Free to Makers who want to share their ideas - just submit your completed Call for Makers. Fees apply to all other categories of Makers.
This is a community driven event serving as a fundraiser for TekVenture so if interested in exhibiting, volunteering, racing, or sponsoring, we’d love to hear from you at email@example.com.
Meet Your Makers:
Hot off the press, Mike Bierbaum of YouthBot fame is the 1st to register for Maker Faire 2015. He heard we were readying to launch the Call for Makers and asked for a call when it went live.
Mike and the YouthBot team will be back demonstrating their Northeast Indiana high school robotics competition entries. Each year teams are given a new challenge for their robots then pit one against another in competitions allowing bragging rights for the nerds.
Mike also happens to be part of the TekVenture Robot Factory where we'll be building community robot projects after we get settled into the new space.
Love all things robotic? Come to Maker Faire or TekVenture (Marty Stern is your man) to learn how we can connect you with introductory electronics workshops, to area competitions, to higher ed programs for taking your dream to the next level.
Thanks Mike and YouthBot for your excitement about Maker Faire!

On 3.14/15, our Rapid Prototyping Center (RPC) officially opened in the former showroom of the newly renovated Allen County Sweeper Co. at 1800 Broadway. We held a workshop on the fundamentals of 3D scanning and printing.
