Dana, Ind. — Brooke's Candy Co., a Vermillion County, Indiana business, is in the limelight again. The MTV Movie Awards has requested Brooke's Campfire Smoked Sea Salt Caramels to be given out to select celebrities as a thank-you gift.
“It has been such a whirlwind, and we are so blessed to be honored to share our chocolate with Hollywood's finest again,” Brooke's Candy Co. Founder Brooke Schmidt said.
Last year, Brooke's tantalizing toffee was featured in the Latin GRAMMY gift baskets. Hollywood double dipped and included Brooke's toffee in the U.S. GRAMMY gift baskets too.
Before the curtain came down in February for the U.S. GRAMMYs, Beverly Hills was after Brooke looking to feature her chocolate again. “It is exciting, but I also want to share that while there is the great talent in Hollywood, there is also equal or more exceptional talent in small towns as well. If more people would look local when in need for products they would be surprised at the aptitude right here in America's heartland,” Schmidt added.
Brooke's claim to fame has been her chocolate-covered, almond drizzled, tantalizing toffee. In the spirit of summer, she is rolling out drizzled smoked sea salt, campfire caramels. “Our signature soft butter caramel is dipped in the same rich Belgian chocolate our customers enjoy on our other chocolates,” Schmidt said. The MTV Movie Awards will air, Sunday April 12th at 8/7c on MTV.
Pre-Sale Starts This Weekend
Before the MTV Movie Awards air, Brooke will debut the campfire caramels at the 5th Annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace in Indianapolis. The Marketplace is a once-a-year opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind artwork and foods directly from the state's highest-quality artisans who make it. The event provides an opportunity to meet the artisans and to share their stories.
An exhibitor's participation is through an adjudication process focused on design/quality, technique, originality or authenticity exhibiting the tradition or heritage of Indiana communities and marketability. Twice each year, food and art jury panels meet to review applications. “It is kind of like the seal of approval for a hand-made product in Indiana, and we are proud to carry their seal,” Schmidt said.
The Marketplace will take place inside the Exposition Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The Marketplace will be open March 28-29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Brooke's Candy is also available at Baesler's Market in Terre Haute. Campfire caramels will be available there April 3
