Indianapolis, Ind. — The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) has released its Request for Qualifications (RFQual) for real estate brokers interested in more than 600 acres of land that IND plans to return to the local market. This RFQual solicits qualifications and information from individuals and firms that wish to be considered as brokers for the land available for sale. RFQuals are due back for review by 2:00 p.m. April 17.
“With this initiative, we hope to further support the local economy by giving businesses, neighbors and economic development groups access to new property,” said Michael Wells, IAA board president. “With the level of interest so far, we are expecting a great response from the real estate community.”
The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) will release a separate Request for Proposals (RFP) in March for developers interested in the land that will be made available for development, which includes prime properties surrounding the old terminal and also along Washington Street.
“We are committed to serving our community because we understand that this airport is our community’s resource,” said Mario Rodriguez, IAA executive director.
“New development on airport land will contribute to the property tax rolls, spark economic growth and create jobs and new opportunities for people all across Central Indiana.”
More than 600 acres of land will be available for sale.
Anticipated timeline:
Feb. 27, 2015: RFQual released

March 27, 2015: Responses to questions issued on Indianapolis Airport's website
April 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. (EST): Submittals due
May 18 – 25, 2015: On-site presentations conducted
June 2015: Final selection anticipated
IND occupies nearly 9,000 acres in Hendricks County, Wayne and Decatur townships, and land use has been governed by strategic growth and development practices for decades. The IAA’s land use plan involves divesting, leasing and selling a significant portion of its property to serve the greater community and drive economic growth and job creation in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.
Multi-jurisdictional collaboration and cooperation will continue to be pursued to encourage and promote development consistent with the key economic drivers of Central Indiana.
