Princeton, Ind. – The Gibson County Economic Development Corporation’s board of directors voted unanimously to invite two high school aged
students from the three Gibson County’s school districts to occupy seats on
their board.
The length of the board appointments for both students will be one-year;
with their terms starting in January and ending in December.
At their January board meeting GCEDC voted to accept Wood Memorial High School Junior, Mikayla Steiner and Gibson Southern High School Junior, Katie Esarey. Both students were in attendance for the January GCEDC meeting. GCEDC accepted applications from students in November 2014 with the selection process lasting through the first of this year. The student board seats are non-voting seats. This is the second year GCEDC
has had representation from high school students.

Todd Mosby, President and CEO of the Gibson County Economic Development Corporation stated, “We feel it may interest our youth to understand the opportunities and challenges our communities faces; while their counsel will help us shape the outcomes for future generations. GCEDC must then be able to use that information to task residents, lawmakers and corporations to understand those needs and build the
type of community future generations demand. Both Katie and Mikayla provided good discussion points and participated without hesitation in their first meeting.”
Currently the GCEDC board of directors consists of 37 governmental, business, community, and student leaders.
