News Release

Danville, Ind. — The Hendricks County Tourism Commission — the governing body for Visit Hendricks County — has approved new officers for the next two years including a first-time member and first-time Commission President.

The Commission welcomes Randy Simpson, General Manager of Lucas Oil Raceway, as a new member after he was appointed by the Hendricks County Commissioners earlier this month. Simpson lives in Brownsburg and is entering his second full season of heading up the day-to-day operations of one of Hendricks County’s most visited attractions.

“I am thrilled to represent Lucas Oil Raceway as a member of the Hendricks County Tourism Commission,” Simpson said. “As Hendricks County’s leading tourist destination, Lucas Oil Raceway was a founding member of the original Hendricks County Tourism Commission. I look forward to helping the commission shape the future of Hendricks County tourism.”

Lee Tesdahl will take over the gavel as the new president of the commission after his nomination was approved during a recent meeting. Tesdahl lives in Brownsburg and owns Artistic Designs Gallery along with his wife Laura. Tesdahl has served on the Commission since 2011 and replaces Lance Angle as president. Angle received a plaque in recognition of his service to the Commission as he stepped down to focus on his new duties on the Plainfield Town Council.

In addition to Tesdahl, other members of the Commission’s Executive Committee include:

–Vice President/President Elect – Amber Armstrong, Cambria Suites

–Treasurer – Lynne Fuller, F2, Inc.

–Secretary – Jennifer Smith, Holiday Inn Express Plainfield and Staybridge Suites

–Past President – Dick Thompson, Hendricks County Council

Other members of the commission include:

–Kent McPhail, Town of Plainfield

–Lew White, Lew White Tours

–Clay Chafin, Plainfield Parks and Recreation Department

The nine-member Tourism Commission is comprised of seven appointments from the County Commissioners and two appointments by the largest municipality in the county, currently the Town of Plainfield.

In other news, Visit Hendricks County recently hired a new Content Coordinator.

Lauren Johnson, who served as a summer intern in 2014 before being hired in January, will oversee management of the company’s database and assist in a number of roles in both the sales and marketing departments.
