Public Could Soon Hear More on Proposed CasinoPosted: Updated:
A public meeting to discuss the environmental impact of a proposed tribal village and casino in South Bend could come in a matter of weeks. The South Bend Tribune reports the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians has not yet announced a date for the meeting that will be held at the Century Center in the St. Joseph County city. The band is based in Michigan, but has a presence in northern Indiana.
The project has been under consideration and going through planning and approval processes since 2012.

Plans call for a hotel and casino, 44-unit housing development, plus health, "multi-purpose" and government facilities to be built on a nearly 166-acre property southwest of downtown South Bend.
