The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will host a familiarization tour next week. Heartland Travel Showcase attendees will experience local attractions and restaurants around the Region.

HAMMOND, Ind. – The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is hosting one of only two familiarization (FAM) tours offered to Heartland Travel Showcase attendees, a three-day marketplace that connects group tour operators with travel suppliers. The marketplace will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Feb. 20 through Feb. 22.

The South Shore CVA had to fill out an application in June 2014 to pitch the South Shore as a potential FAM tour location. The FAM tour will be hosted prior to the start of the convention and will take group tour operators to several local attractions and restaurants in an effort to book future group tours.

Currently, the South Shore CVA’s FAM will host nine different group tour businesses, with businesses coming from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Hoosier Bat Company, 4511 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso

12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Sage Restaurant, 157 Lincolnway, Valparaiso

2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Chicagoland Popcorn, 5470 E. Lincoln Highway, Merrillville

3:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. The Shrine of Christ’s Passion, 10630 Wicker Avenue, St. John

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Teibel’s Restaurant, 1775 US Highway 41, Schererville

Thursday, Feb. 19
