A new herbicide from Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences LLC will be called Rinskor Active. The company says the rice herbicide will be an “important resistance management tool for farmers.”

February 9, 2015

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), announced Rinskor™ (pronounced RINZ-KOR) active will be the brand name for the company’s new rice herbicide. Currently in the development process, Rinskor will bring farmers a new option for post-emergent control of grasses, broadleaves, and sedges in rice and other cropping systems. Scientific papers on Rinskor are being shared at the Weed Science Society of America’s Annual Meeting taking place in Lexington, Ky., from Feb. 9-12, 2015.

Rinskor will be an important resistance management tool for farmers as it will provide an alternative mode of action for weed control in rice and other cropping systems, and will do so at a low use rate. The product also has a favorable environmental profile.

“Farmers around the globe are looking for tools to help them stay ahead of nature’s ability to adapt, and Rinskor will be an important option to keep weeds from impacting their crops,” says Daniel Kittle, Ph.D., vice president of Research and Development, Dow AgroSciences. “The unique chemistry of Rinskor controls most known herbicide-resistant biotypes and illustrates the power of innovation coming from the Dow AgroSciences’ pipeline to address the challenge of managing resistance.”

Rinskor will enhance Dow AgroSciences’ robust portfolio of herbicides for farmers around the world. First registrations for Rinskor are anticipated in the 2017/2018 timeframe, pending regulatory approvals.
