The city of Kokomo will host the 2015 Indiana Conference of Mayors annual meeting in June. Mayors from across the state will gather to discuss public policy issues impacting their communities.

February 2, 2015

News Release

Kokomo has been selected to host the 2015 Indiana Conference of Mayors (ICOM) annual meeting. It marks the first time that organizers have selected Kokomo as the host city.

Mayors from across Indiana will convene in Kokomo, June 3rd – 5th for the conference sponsored by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT).

“Indiana’s mayors are excited to gather in Kokomo for their annual meeting in 2015,” said IACT Executive Director Matt Greller. “Kokomo is one of Indiana’s showcase cities, and it is the perfect place for mayors to learn and discuss the issues of the day.”

Indiana mayors will come together to discuss public policy issues impacting residents in cities large and small. The economic health of Indiana cities, public safety, urban renewal, infrastructure investments, housing and support for returning veterans are issues that will face cities in the coming years.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase Kokomo’s unique neighborhoods, restaurants and retail scene as well as the quality-of-life initiatives we use to attract new residents,” said Mayor Goodnight. “The fact that mayors from Indiana’s largest cities chose Kokomo is an acknowledgement that our city is gaining in reputation and respect.”

“The mayors of Indiana meet regularly during the year to learn about the positive things going on in the regions around the state, be it a small or large community,” said Randy Strasser, Delphi Mayor – Indiana Conference of Mayors President. “Kokomo will be an excellent place to see what successful communities are doing today to move their city forward. We are as excited to be there as Kokomo will be to have us!”

ICOM is a non-partisan affiliate group of IACT designed exclusively for mayors. The group convenes regularly during IACT events and hosts an annual meeting each summer.
