An event connected to Super Bowl XLVI three years ago in Indianapolis has blossomed into an annual commitment for the owners of Shoup's Country Foods Inc. in Frankfort. Co-Owner Amy Shoup Mennen and a small group of catering employees will again be managing the vendors at this year's invitation-only NFL Tailgate Party prior to the big game. They took on a similar task at the last two Super Bowls. Though Shoup's products will not be served at the event, Shoup Mennen believes working on such a high-profile stage has been a big boost to business in Indiana. She says the Super Bowl tailgate experience, which serves more than 10,000 people every year, demonstrates her company's ability to handle any event in the Midwest.

She adds that it has given them the opportunity to work side-by-side with the industry's top professionals and lends credibility to the way they do business.

Shoup Mennen says they will “stay on-board” until the NFL and its event organizers change their mind.

The crew had the opportunity to attend the Pro Bowl this week, which the NFL held in Arizona this year to minimize travel commitments for players.

Shoup's pulled pork was recently awarded to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker as part of a bet with Governor Mike Pence on the New England Patriots AFC Championship victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
