The first deal relating to the Indianapolis International Airport Authority's efforts to sell 1,200 acres is complete. An 80-acre section in Hendricks County has sold for $8 million. The authority says the available land is valued at more than $80 million. January 23, 2015

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) has landed its first deal as part of its initiative to place more than 1,200 acres back onto the market. The land being purchased consists of approximately 80 acres located in Hendricks County with a purchase price amounting to $8.0 million.

On Jan. 20, 2015, more than 100 brokers, developers, economic development groups and community leaders gathered at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) for an informational session about the land available for lease and sale. Airport executives met with interested parties and discussed possibilities for the future of IND’s land. The land that is available for lease and sale is valued at an estimated $83 million.

“We're really looking forward to exploring new partnerships and possibilities for future development around the airport with this dynamic plan,” said Eric Anderson, IAA property director. “This process has allowed us to engage with key business and community leaders who are truly interested in helping foster and develop the land we have available for use.”

On February 27, 2015, the IAA will release a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to the brokerage community to assist the IAA in land sale transactions and anticipates a final selection announcement in May.
