Frankfort Mayor to Detail 200-Day Plan Results

Frankfort, Ind. – Marking the end of the administration's fourth 200-Day Plan, Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes will outline the Plan's major accomplishments in a State of the City presentation Wednesday, January 28, followed by a taped Community Conversations available on the City's Web site and the City and Mayor's Facebook pages beginning the final day of the Plan period, Thursday, January 29.
Open to the public, the Mayor's State of the City at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday in the Clinton County Historical Museum on the second floor of Old Stoney will be both a look back on accomplishments contained in the Plan within the administration's four cornerstones, as well as a look forward to future initiatives.
Provided electronically for the public's convenience, the Community Conversations features narrative from McBarnes, along with several visuals from throughout the community and commentary from several representatives of new companies in Frankfort and many other voices in the community.
“This piece serves double-duty as it also will be a marketing tool for the City, showcasing the appeal of Frankfort to potential new residents and businesses,” McBarnes said. “We know there is nothing more powerful than hearing from those who have chosen to make Frankfort their home and the reasons why they made that wise choice.”
According to the Mayor, the administration's initial 100-Day Plan back in 2012 and the following four 200-Day Plans provide transparency for the initiatives included in each Plan.
“The Plans also provide accountability for the City's leadership team that we do what we say we are going to do with all the initiatives undertaken falling within each of our four cornerstones of Neighborhood Revitalization, Economic Development, Communications and Citizen Voice.
“Each plan is just that – a plan. Major projects have taken place – some we anticipated and other opportunities we folded in as they became known — to what we already were doing. Where it's needed, any initiatives underway but are not yet completed are transferred to the next plan to ensure everything we say we are going to do gets done,” McBarnes said.
Within each of the four cornerstones, the following major accomplishments were achieved from the recently concluded plan covering July 14, 2014 – January 29, 2015.
Neighborhood Revitalization
– Hearing Authority created
– enhanced recycling program with 575 tons of recyclable materials collected (11 tons per week)
– Wildflower Prairie Patch created
– new fall community clean up
– launched Neighborhood Connection Program in Circle Park
– Theft Prevention campaign
– Drug Activity Awareness campaign
– numerous Park programs (Plant a Tree With the Lorax!, horticulture class, Christmas craft workshop)
Economic Development
– Wabash National announcement
– Firefighter Safety Program (Personal Protective Equipment Program, department restructure with arrival of new rescue/pumper)
– Fire Explorer Program
Communications
– Fire Prevention Week
