The Home Builders Association of Southern Indiana has a new name. The New Albany-based organization is now known as the Building & Development Association of Southern Indiana. Executive Officer Charlie Smith says the move reflects acceptance for a broader-range of segments within the industry. January 19, 2015

HBA of Southern Indiana to Announce New Name and Mission

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The Home Builders Association of Southern Indiana (HBASI) is changing its name and mission to encompass the entire construction industry, not just residential construction. Incorporated in 1956, HBASI is rebranding as The Building & Development Association of Southern Indiana (BDASI). The official name change announcement will occur at an event January 30th from 3 to 5 p.m. at ARC Construction located at 1517 Fabricon Blvd. in Jeffersonville, Ind.

“As the local industry continues to emerge from the recession, our association has embraced the other segments of the construction industry,” said executive officer Charlie Smith. “Embracing the commercial, remodel and land planning components of our industry will allow our members a stronger voice in terms of advocating for the industry, not just a particular segment as we have in the past. Our members and board of directors will not forget what our founders started in 1956. However, it is more important to look to the future to recognize the changes for our region coming down the pike. Our area is primed to be this area’s economic driving force. Through our association's combined understanding of the development processes, we recognize the complexity and need a seat at the tables that will be guiding our region's economic engine. Our experience makes us experts in building and development. Our strength is in our numbers.”

BDASI provides its members advocacy, education, networking and community outreach while encouraging smart growth for the long term economic stability of our community.

Since 2008, BDASI has provided over $44,000 in scholarships and community projects. It also is the organization that produces the Southern Indiana Parade of Homes and the Southern Indiana Home Expo.
