Downtown Indy is planning a big celebration for New Year's Eve. Officials with Downtown Indy and Indianapolis Motor Speedway have unveiled the Indy Car that will be featured during a new countdown event.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Officials associated with Downtown Indy’s New Year’s Eve Celebration brought to you by The Indiana Union Construction Industry will be on hand to unveil the Indy car that will be used in place of a traditional “ball drop” for the city’s inaugural public NYE event. Come Dec. 31, in true Indy fashion, an actual Indy car presented by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Verizon IndyCar Series will be suspended high above the Georgia Street stage and descend for the final seconds of 2014 ushering in the New Year with an epic, adrenaline-packed moment for Indianapolis. Final details and plans about the city’s celebration will be shared with media after the unveiling of the NYE Indy car and the countdown clock will start ticking.
