News Release

Elkhart, Ind. — Transhield, Inc. recently announced that it has completed delivery of 350 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle protective covers to the U.S. Air Force. It is Transhield's first major order for the U.S. Air Force and included 163 MaxxPro covers, 91 MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (MATV) covers and 96 CAT II Cougar 6X6 covers, which protect the vehicles from rust and corrosion to help extend their useful life.

“We are excited and honored to expand our support of the Department of Defense's MRAP fleet through the delivery of this order to help protect U.S. Air Force vehicles. The competitive nature of our selection reinforces that Transhield provides superb protection and the most cost effective protective cover solution for protecting our nation's defense equipment,” said James Glick, Transhield's president. “Transhield is committed to providing the highest quality protective covers, which can help maintain the lifecycle of our military's valuable equipment across all branches.”

The company supplies protective covers to the U.S Marine Corps, U.S. Army, the U.S Navy, and, with this order, the U.S. Air Force. This order is part of the ongoing effort by the U.S. Air Force to reduce damage caused to vehicles by corrosion and environmental degradation while in storage, on base or awaiting redeployment. It included the introduction of a new custom protective cover crafted to accommodate the Underbody Improvement Kit version of the MATV. This custom-fit cover design provides breathability, water resistance, element protection, durability and the integration of Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) to extend the life and preserve the quality of the equipment.

All Transhield military covers are made with a patented vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI) technology that works within the body of the cover. The VCI is emitted in vapor form and bonds to the equipment's metal surface, thereby disrupting the electro-chemical reaction that causes corrosion. The covers are lightweight, durable, and instrumental in sustaining and preserving military equipment fleets across all branches of the armed forces. The covers are available to protect a broad range of military vehicles and equipment ranging from generators to the M1A1 tank, tactical wheeled vehicles and amphibious assault vehicles.

Transhield protective covers are available on the GSA Federal Supply Schedule under contact number GS-02F-0103R.
