News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — WISH-TV's President and General Manager Les Vann today announced additional news expansions and entertainment programming, effective January 1, 2015.

“We're excited to announce these additional hours of news along with a new schedule of popular programming that complements our award-winning news and delivers key audience demographics to our advertisers,” said Vann.

WISH-TV will increase its total number of hours of news and local programming to 61 hours per week. Today's announcement of additional news hours was on the heels of Vann's October announcement about an increase of 20 hours per week. On January 1, WISH-TV will expand 24-Hour News 8's Daybreak by two-hours, from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. 24-Hour News 8 at Noon will expand by 30-minutes to 1:00 p.m. 24-Hour News 8's early newscast will expand by 30-minutes to 7:00 p.m., WISH-TV's late newscast will expand one additional hour, from 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and 24-Hour News 8's Daybreak on the weekends will expand by an hour, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Rolling out the strategic plan to his team, Vann said, “We are in this to win and we've been given the support and investments to make it happen.” He also announced a major hiring campaign underway, including significant staff increases in news and marketing. Vann also acknowledged the excitement WISH-TV has received from it partners and advertisers. “They're on-board and ready to see us succeed.”

WISH-TV's 2015 program schedule will include a line-up of new morning game shows, with the addition of Family Feud and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire; new afternoon talk shows, including Wendy Williams; and several new comedies, including How I Met Your Mother. “This programming strategically attracts a younger, more female demographic, in addition to loyal 24-Hours News 8 viewers,” said Vann. “The schedule also provides WISH-TV the independence and flexibility to continue to enhance our commitment to local news and local programming.”
