A family-owned farming business in Kosciusko County is planning to donate $5 million to Purdue University. Creighton Brothers LLC says the gift will support the department of animal sciences in the College of Agriculture. The university is in the process of lining up state funding for a new animal sciences building.

Creighton Brothers Vice President Mindy Creighton Truex tells Inside INdiana Business the donation is in honor of company patriarchs Hobart and Russell Creighton, who founded the egg production business nearly 90 years ago.

She says the university graduates “phenomenal young people” and the gift offers an opportunity for students to learn about the legacy of the Creighton brothers.

More details on Purdue's specific use of the donation will be announced after the General Assembly makes its funding decision next year on the proposed building.

Creighton Truex adds the company has supplied eggs to the Purdue campus for the last 40 years.
