News Release

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Bethel College is enrolling students for the Master of Arts in Counseling program, set to begin in the fall of 2015. The program, previously offered at Bethel in the 1990s and early 2000s, has been frequently requested by alumni of Bethel’s undergraduate programs.

Students can specialize in addictions, mental health, and marriage and family, and will be prepared to work as counselors and therapists in a number of clinical settings. Many of the courses will be taught by individuals practicing in the field.

Toni Steffensen Pauls, Ph.D., vice president for adult and graduate studies, is excited to open up new career opportunities for Bethel students in the growing field of counseling. She says that, like in all Bethel programs, students can expect academic quality with courses taught from a Christian world-view.

“What sets us apart is the fact that we will be teaching these students from a perspective that includes valuing the individuals they serve as unique beings created in the image of God,” says Pauls. “We will train counselors who address the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of their clients.”

Bethel College, located in Mishawaka, Ind., is an accredited Christian college offering associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in more than 50 areas of study. The current enrollment of nearly 1,800 includes students from 34 states and Puerto Rico, 11 countries and 22 percent from culturally diverse backgrounds. Bethel has been named a top tier college by U.S. News since 2003.
