Researchers will present the results of a study examining downtown housing potential next week in Fort Wayne. New Jersey-based Zimmerman/Volk Associates conducted similar studies for the city in 2006 and 2010.

Fort Wayne, Ind. -- The public is invited to hear a presentation about the potential for additional residential development opportunities in downtown Fort Wayne.
Results of the study will be presented during the HANDS (Housing and Neighborhood Development Services) Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11:30 a.m., Citizens Square, 200 East Berry Street, Garden Level Room 030.
Results of a study by Zimmerman/Volk Associates from Clinton, New Jersey will be presented during the meeting. The study examines downtown Fort Wayne, including the riverfront study area, and its potential for residential development. Zimmerman/Volk completed similar studies for Fort Wayne in 2006 and 2010.
"The study shows that there is continued demand for more residential units in the downtown area," says Heather Presley-Cowen, deputy director of the Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services. "The success of Randall Lofts, Anthony Wayne Condos and The Harrison are examples of what this study shows – more residents of all income levels want to live in and near downtown Fort Wayne."
HANDS commissioned the study in order to help attract potential developers to Fort Wayne. The study, along with the real-world examples of residential downtown success, provides the data many developers need.
