INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Kroger Central Division leaders celebrated the grand reopening of the company’s 86th and Township Line store in Indianapolis, Indiana at a celebration at 8:30 AM this morning.
The total economic investment in this store is $4.4 million, following a $1 million investment in the fuel center last year. Kroger's project was led by Project Manager David Arnett. This investment strengthens Kroger's economic and workforce commitment to the local Indianapolis community and will create additional jobs over time.
At a time when many companies, particularly retail companies, slowed or stopped their investments in facilities and job creation in Indiana, Kroger Central Division accelerated their pace of investment. In 2014 alone, Kroger will invest more than $75 million in new stores and major remodels in Indiana.

I also am very honored to recognize the longest-serving associate in this Indianapolis store, Joann Rainey, who has worked for Kroger since 1976 (38 years). All of us are very proud of her dedicated service and leadership in mentoring newer associates.”
This store remodel offers Kroger customers:
-Gross retail space of 68,628 square feet
-Relocated bakery and renovated deli service areas with seating area
-New customer restrooms
-Relocated produce department with new 5 deck cases, misting system, new produce island, all new produce bins and track lighting
-Natural foods upgraded to include refrigerated and frozen cases
-Renovated deli and bakery cases to include new hot foods, soup bar, Chef on the Run, services cases, upright deli islands and new beverage center with seating area
-New floral upgrades to include a new workstation
-Meat upgrade, including full service meat and seafood cases
-Stock handling equipment to include bascarts, convenience bascarts and covered bascart corrals

During the grand reopening event, Kroger made the following donations:
-$1,000 to The Julian Center
-$1,000 to Washington Township Special Olympics
-$6,950 to Indiana Women in Need for their support of cancer patients
