News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Community Health Network announced today that Joseph Hooper has accepted the role of president of Community Howard Regional Health. The Community Health Network Board of Directors approved the appointment Monday. Ron Lewis has served as interim president for the region over the past six months and will remain with Community at the network level. Hooper officially resumes his new role on December 15.

As president of Community Howard Regional Health, Hooper will also provide strategic leadership oversight and direction for the Howard Region. He will be responsible for developing an actionable vision and position the region for growth in the face of accelerated industry change and healthcare reform.

“Joseph joins us from a large, well-respected community-based hospital system and brings to Community a strong operational background,” said Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network. “He also has a solid track record of building outstanding working relationships with physicians.”

“We are pleased to welcome Joseph as our new president,” said Jay Freeman, chairman of the Community Howard Regional Health Board. “We are confident his direction will make a mark on Community Howard Regional Health, as well as in the Howard Region. I want to also take a moment and specially thank Ron Lewis for his excellent leadership during this interim period. His efforts have helped to build a strong foundation for the future of Community Howard and we are grateful for his service to our team and local community.”

Hooper received a Bachelor of Arts degree in public administration from Wright State University and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from The Ohio State University. He was an Administrative Fellow at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Hooper comes to Community from OhioHealth, where he most recently served as chief operating officer for Marion General Hospital. His previous roles included associate vice president of heart and vascular services at Aultman Health Foundation in Canton, Ohio; director of oncology services at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan; and executive director of Michigan Heart in Ann Arbor. He has served in various management roles for hospital service lines earlier in his career.

Hooper is active in his local community and serves as a board member for the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. He is a member of Rotary International, Marion Chapter, and is board member and treasurer of Marion Matters, a Bridges Out Of Poverty initiative. In addition, he is board member of the Center Street Community Health Clinic, as well as of Marion Ancillary Services.
