Vincennes University has announced expansion of a scholarship for students who live in Illinois. Starting fall semester 2015, students who live in one of the four Illinois counties near Vincennes will pay the same tuition rate as in-state students. November 3, 2014

News Release

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University today announced a major expansion of a new scholarship for students residing in Illinois. The scholarship, which will go into effect during fall semester 2015, will mean that Illinois students will pay the same tuition rate as in-state students. The scholarship was rolled out this fall for students living in four Illinois counties near Vincennes.

“Vincennes University takes great pride in being the most affordable residential college in Indiana. Now we extend this benefit to students throughout Illinois,” said VU President Dick Helton.

The new scholarship program represents substantial savings for Illinois students. The average full-time student will save $7,060.20 per year.

“We have welcomed a large number of students from southern Illinois for many years who have been attracted by the diversity and quality of our programs as well as our rich campus life. We look forward to welcoming many more students who will benefit from this new scholarship,” Helton said.

“This new scholarship for Illinois students will boost the availability of a well-trained workforce for many additional communities, just as it has done in Indiana,” Helton said.

The scholarship applies to both part-time and full-time students from Illinois. Currently enrolled students from these counties will also see their tuition reduced beginning with the fall semester. Students do not need to apply for the scholarship since it will automatically be granted based on residency.

Last year 208 students from Illinois attended VU’s Vincennes Campus.
