Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear will be on-hand this afternoon to dedicate the recently-reconstructed Milton-Madison Bridge over the Ohio River. The project included what Indiana and Kentucky transportation officials believe could be the largest bridge “slide maneuver” in the world. October 27, 2014

News Release

MILTON, Ken. and MADISON, Ind. – Due to the likelihood of inclement weather, the public ceremony to dedicate the new Milton-Madison Bridge is being moved to the Brown Gym at 100 Broadway Street. The governors from Indiana and Kentucky will be on hand to highlight the innovative solution used to replace the bridge.

At nearly a half-mile long, the Milton-Madison Bridge became the longest bridge in North America – and perhaps the world – to be slid laterally into place when it was moved 55 feet from temporary piers onto refurbished permanent piers this past April. The bridge reopened to traffic on April 17.
