UPLAND, Ind. — Taylor University officials have announced that $16.3 million has been raised for the LaRita R. Boren Campus Center – a $20 million facility that will be constructed around Rediger Chapel/Auditorium.
Officials say the complex will celebrate and strengthen vital elements of Taylor’s distinctive community life. The 49,000 square foot facility provides essential space for strengthening intentional, frequent, and purposeful interactions between and among the Taylor family. The formal and informal gathering spaces will accommodate 1,300 people, nearly three times more than the current student union. In addition to significant areas for student interaction, the Center will house most Student Development related offices. Additionally, the project includes a renovation of Taylor’s historic Rediger Chapel/Auditorium.
Fundraising began in June 2013 and the University’s Advancement office anticipates completing the campaign in early 2015. If that timetable is achieved, they project that the Center will open late Spring 2016.
