A sold-out conference today focusing on women is expected to draw more than 1,000 business and community leaders. Judy Smith, the inspiration for the television series “Scandal,” will keynote the second annual Indiana Governor's Conference For Women in Indianapolis. Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick will serve as an emcee. Event organizers Billie Dragoo and Caroline Dowd-Higgins previewed the event on a recent edition of Inside INdiana Business Television.

Indianapolis, Ind. — Renowned crisis communications expert Judy Smith will keynote the 2nd Annual Indiana Governor's Conference for Women on October 21, 2014, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Smith will discuss how to handle crisis situations in a candid presentation at the close of the conference.

Although known to most as the inspiration for the hit television series 'Scandal,' Smith has built a trailblazing career in government, media and communications. She previously served as deputy press secretary to President George H.W. Bush and senior vice president of corporate communications at NBC, among other roles, before founding her own company, Smith & Company, where her clients have included internationally recognized celebrities and Fortune 500 companies. Smith also authored Good Self, Bad Self: How to Bounce Back from a Personal Crisis.

“Judy Smith's illustrious career not only inspired a television show, it inspires millions of women,” said Indiana Governor's Conference for Women Co-Founders Deborah Collins Stephens and Billie Dragoo. “Her work in the public, private and philanthropic sectors offers women of all backgrounds a blueprint for success in their personal and professional lives.”

Previously announced speakers for the 2nd Annual Conference include bestselling authors and journalists Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, who together recently published The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance. Other confirmed speakers include Rose Park Advisors co-founder and author Whitney Johnson, author of Stiletto Network Pamela Ryckman and New York Times bestselling author Gail Sheehy.
