COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce will host a lunch meeting featuring former Procter & Gamble CEO John Pepper on Friday, October 24 at noon at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center.
John Pepper, former CEO and President of Procter & Gamble and former Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, has devoted his efforts over the past 25 years to Early Childhood and Youth Development.
In his capacity as Co-chair of the national CEO Task Force on Early Childhood, John has testified before the United States Senate; met with numerous Members of Congress and state Governors; and participated in meetings with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and former Secretary of Health & Human Services Kathleen Sibelius. Through his work with ReadyNation, he collaborates with local business owners and executives at the state level in advocating for smart public investments to ensure that all children are healthy, educated, and successful.
On November 4, Bartholomew County voters will have an opportunity to support a referendum that will provide additional public funding to the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation so it may offer free, full-day pre-kindergarten to students who receive lunch assistance. Fourteen Columbus-based organizations have endorsed the referendum including the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, Cummins, Inc., Columbus Economic Development Board, Community Education Coalition, and the Foundation for Youth.
