News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Smithville Communications has relaunched, relocated and renamed its retail communications tech operations to better reflect the consumer experience available through the advanced services of the company, according to Darby McCarty, Chairman and CEO. On Saturday, October 25, Smithville will open the new 1,100 sq. ft. facility in a completely redesigned store under the new brand Technology, Powered by Smithville.
“Our new store, Technology Powered by Smithville, will focus on providing high-performing communication technology, security and cellular services and products in a new setting that provides customers with an outstanding experience,” said Ms. McCarty. “In addition to demonstrating our gigabit fiber capacity – which represents the future standard of communication in Indiana – our new store will be segmented by lifestyles, offering experiences that show customers how to maximize their communication capacity, protect themselves with security technology, and enhance existing products and services.”
The store will move from its previous location in Ellettsville (NW Bloomington area) to the Clear Creek Crossing Shopping Center (corner of South Walnut Street and East Rhorer Road).
“As gigabit communication and other platforms advance, we will see new products and services for personal healthcare, entertainment, productivity, peace of mind, home automation and of course communication,” said Todd May, Director of Sales for Smithville. “These reflect the unique technological capacity and customer focus that is available through Smithville, hence the new appropriate name: Technology, Powered by Smithville.”
“Our goal is to become the 'go-to' communications and tech store for the city and region of Bloomington,” said Ms. McCarty. “These are exciting times for our company.”
The new Technology store will offer a variety of high-performing smart TVs and accessories, as well as high-tech wireless security products and support, flexible and affordable cell phones and plans, and a variety of other technology products.
Smithville is conducting a “homecoming” grand opening event on October 25 to open the store, celebrating in part Smithville Communications' ongoing sponsorship and official support of IU athletics.
The grand opening will offer store visitors a chance to win a 39-inch Philips Smart TV and other products. The first 25 visitors will receive a special “doorbuster” $25 card for Technology store merchandise. Other event discounts will also be available. (For specific promotion information, please call the store at 812-935-8324 or go online to Smithville.com/technology).
The Technology store will also offer “Smart Pay” financing options for customers, which include 60-90 days same as cash and other financing options, said Ryan Lentz, store manager.
The store will feature extended hours from its previous location, and will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the Saturday Grand Opening relaunch at the Clear Creek Crossing Shopping Center.
