Thousands of pieces of manufacturing equipment used at the General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) plant in Fort Wayne will be auctioned next week. Word of the company's exit from the city began circulating in January. Fort Wayne-based Charleston Auctions is conducting the sale. GE has had a presence in Fort Wayne for more than a century.

The company once employed thousands of workers in Allen County and now only has a small work force.
