The Economic Development Corp. Michigan City, Indiana has honored its 2014 Business Investment & Anniversary Award winners. Dozens of companies were recognized for investments over the last two years and anniversaries of operating in Michigan City.

Michigan City, Ind. — The Economic Development Corporation Michigan City (EDCMC) hosted its 2014 Business Investment & Anniversary Awards Ceremony on October 9th, 2014 at the Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Spa in Michigan City. The dinner event, which is held every two years, recognized local companies that have made substantial investments in their business during 2013 and 2014, as well as, honored businesses who are celebrating special anniversaries of operating in Michigan City in 2014 and 2015.

The event is part of EDCMC's ongoing business retention efforts which helps support and retain existing businesses and acknowledge their new investments in the community. Simultaneously, the event also recognizes new companies who have located to Michigan City and made new investments. “Since I became Executive Director of EDCMC earlier this year, I have been impressed with the outreach to our local businesses that EDCMC has historically given, as well as the aggressive efforts to attract new business to the community. This event illustrates that commitment and we will work to continue and strengthen those efforts,” said Clarence Hulse.

A crowd of near 200 attended the celebration representing elected officials, business, not for profit organizations and education. EDCMC regularly partners with these local partners as it works toward developing the community as a great place to live, work and play. Companies receiving Business Investment Awards included: Calumet Pallet, D. Martin Enterprises, Gypsum Express, Midwest Metal Products, Mikropor America, NIPSCO Generating Station, Sager Metal Strip Company, Sandin Manufacturing, Sandusky Chicago Abrasive Wheel Company, United States Army Reserve Center and Key Development Partners.

Companies achieving special anniversaries are: 10 years-Power Drive; 30 years-Fi-Tech, Crismar Graphics, Sullivan Palatek, Wozniak Tool Die; 40 years-Cadence Environmental Energy; 50 years-Sullair Corporation; 60 years-Dage-MTI, Dwyer Instruments, Stranco; 90 years-Foster Printing Service, Meyer Glass & Mirror. Extra special anniversaries are: 100 years-Josam; 110 years- Michigan City Paper Box Company, Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City.

The City is committed to partnering with the EDCMC in continuing to make this community a great place to live, work and play,” said Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer.
