State Gaming Revenue Decreases

The Indiana Gaming Commission says monthly casino revenue has dipped again. The agency reports adjusted gross revenue in September was $159 million, compared to $176 million in the same period a year earlier. Only three of the state's 13 venues recorded higher or virtually unchanged revenue last month, compared to the same period in 2013.

The biggest gainer, East Chicago's Ameristar Casino, reported revenue of $16.4 million last month, up from $14.4 million in September 2013.

Tropicana Evansville had adjusted gross revenue of more than $8.8 million, an increase from $8.4 million last year.

Indiana Grand Racing and Casino in Shelbyville, one of the state's two racinos, recorded monthly revenue of just over $18 million, virtually unchanged from September 2013. Hoosier Park Racing and Casino in Anderson took in $13.8 million last month, down from from $14.7 million. Racinos receive a state-approved 8.5 percent deduction.

Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg once again recorded one of the biggest decreases. Last month, it took in more than $13.1 million, compared to $19.3 million in September 2013.

Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino in Elizabeth decreased to $18.7 million last month, from $20 million a year earlier.

The Blue Chip Hotel Casino Spa in Michigan reported a revenue of $11 million, compared to $11.5 million.

Horseshoe Casino Hammond cited adjusted gross revenue of nearly $32 million in September is down from $37.4 million during the same period last year.

Rising Star in Rising Sun reported $3.6 million in adjusted gross revenue last month, which was down from $4.8 million in September 2013.

Belterra Casino in Florence was down to just under $8 million from $9.8 million.

The Majestic Star and the Majestic Star II in Gary, as well as the French Lick Resort and Casino all reported slight decreases in monthly revenue year-to-year.
