The organization says the Fort Wayne TinCaps and Science Central had higher attendance than previous years and the Children's Zoo saw a recent month-over-month traffic increase. The tourism organization has been focusing its campaign in cities within a 200-mile radius. That focus area includes more than 30 cities.
Visit Fort Wayne adds several large group events are on the horizon, such as a Great Lakes Chi Alpha Campus Ministries gathering expected to bring 600 delegates and a future Eastern Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championship, which could attract 1,200.
The National Fishing Lures Collectors Club and Association of Indiana Counties have re-booked events that are slated to draw a total of 1,700 visitors.
Visit Fort Wayne Sales Director Josie O'Donnell says, “we are a great destination for hobby, religious and state association groups, as well as unique sports tournaments. This is evident in the bookings we've secured this year.”
