Sellersburg-based Leadership Southern Indiana has launched a program for eleventh grade students in Clark and Floyd counties. LSI says NEXGEN will help engage future leaders. September 30, 2014

News Release

SELLERSBURG, Ind. — Leadership Southern Indiana (LSI) is continuing to expand their offerings, launching NEXGEN, a program designed for select high school juniors in Clark and Floyd County.

“The NEXGEN program embodies our organization’s mission to actively engage leaders and develop ethical leadership that impacts our region,” said Mark Eddy, LSI Executive Director. “The program’s objectives will provide experiences for the youth leaders of our community to encourage future successes.”

The selected youth will explore topics such as team building, communication, leadership and financial literacy while taking an in-depth look at the community through government, history and heritage, health and human services, tourism and culture and industry.

“We have four class days planned before our graduation ceremony,” said Eddy. “Every class will include hands-on learning opportunities and a time for the students to interact with their peers and community leaders.”

The program is open to all high school juniors in Clark and Floyd County, but only 36 are selected for the upcoming year.

According to Eddy, school counselors and administrators have provided input to LSI in selecting students who exhibit leadership qualities, good character and a desire to learn about and engage the community.
