A national publication's list of the 400 Richest People in America includes several Hoosiers. Carl Cook, the heir to the Cook Medical Group fortune, is tops in the state in this year's Forbes rankings. His wealth is valued at $5.9 billion, which places him 86th overall. Carl's parents, Bill and Gayle Cook, founded the company and have been featured on the list in previous years. Bill died in 2011. The family has be transitioning Carl into the helm of the company for years.

The others on the list from Indiana are:

279. Herbert Simon, chairman emeritus of the board of Simon Property Group Inc. and owner of the Indiana Pacers. Forbes “Real Time Net Worth” – $2.3 billion

334. Dean White, lodging and billboard companies, Forbes “Real Time Net Worth” – $1.96 billion

368. James Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts. Forbes “Real Time Net Worth” – $1.74 billion
