The Performance Racing Industry Trade Show returns to Indianapolis in December and organizers say it means big business for Indiana. More than 1,000 racing companies are expected for the event that could attract more than 10,000 race fans. September 26, 2014

News Release

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — When the 27th annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show kicks off Dec. 11, it will not only be the three biggest business days of racing, but it will be big business for the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.

The PRI Trade Show, which will run from Dec. 11-13 at the Indiana Convention Center, returned to the Hoosier State last year for the first time since 2004 and immediately became one of the three biggest convention and trade shows in Indianapolis and the seventh-fastest growing show in the country last year according to Trade Show Executive.

“It’s really an ideal pairing – Indianapolis is the racing capitol of the world and PRI is the biggest show of its kind in the world,” said John Kilroy, PRI Trade Show Producer. “The number of racing industry exhibitors went up by over 25% and we printed up more credentials than at any other PRI Trade Show – and in turn, a successful show of this size benefits the city in several ways, from tax revenue to jobs.”

One benefit the PRI Trade show brings that few other major conventions or trade shows offer is the accompanying Race Industry Week. With activities consisting of more than 35 conferences, seminars and other special events throughout the racing world, the show has transformed into a seven-day event.

Early PRI numbers already show a 16 percent increase in reserved hotel room nights from this time a year ago.

“The PRI Trade Show means a lot to the racing industry and a lot to Indy, the racing capital of the world,” said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. “PRI is big business. It was recently named the seventh fastest growing trade show and we are proud to have it in Indy.”

This year’s PRI Trade Show is expected to play host to exhibits from over 1,100 racing companies occupying 3,000 booths, and attract tens of thousands of racing professionals from across the US and 70 countries around the globe. Among those exhibiting is Lucas Oil founded by Indiana native Forrest Lucas.

“Motorsports marketing has been a key to the success and growth of Lucas Oil through the years,” relayed Lucas, founder and president of Lucas Oil. “Having the PRI Show in Indianapolis is a big deal for us and it’s a big deal for Indianapolis as the motorsport capitol.”
