Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center is hosting an event Wednesday focusing on innovation and commercialization. The inaugural Invention and Technology Showcase will bring together inventors, investors and leaders from the public and military sectors. Officials say Crane features a more than 400-piece intellectual property portfolio and has a unique position within the state and the Department of the Navy.

The event begins with a pre-reception at 1 p.m. Wedenesday at WestGate Academy and Training Center.

CRANE, Ind. – Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) will be hosting the inaugural Invention and Technology Showcase on Wednesday, September, 24 2014 at WestGate Academy and Training Center from 1:00pm – 3:30pm with a pre-social at 12:00pm. This exciting event will bring together inventors and community partners to highlight innovation and the exchange of ideas between Crane and its network of partnerships. State of Indiana Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann will be featured as the keynote speaker and address the value and opportunities associated with innovation and the role it plays in Indiana's future. NSWC Crane Commanding Officer JT Elder and Technical Director Dr. Adam Razavian will also provide remarks on Crane's unique position within the State and Department of the Navy.

The Invention and Technology Showcase will be an excellent opportunity for Crane's inventors to promote their patents, meet the community partners who help commercialize Crane's technology, and learn about some of the success stories that have occurred when Crane technology has been transferred to the public domain. NSWC Crane's Intellectual Property portfolio consists of 414 pieces, averaging 34 disclosures per year with a record 82 this past year. Crane has a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) and University network of over 30 entities.

The event's schedule includes a pre-social, hosted by the Indiana Office for Defense Development, which will give inventors, Crane leadership, the media, and our community partners the opportunity to socialize and network. After the event, guests and inventors will have additional opportunities to continue discussions and to network.
