MUNCIE, Ind. — President Paul W. Ferguson today announced that Indianapolis attorney Julie Halbig has accepted the position of Vice President for Government Relations at Ball State University.
Halbig, who most recently was a government relations specialist at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister LLP in Indianapolis, has nearly 18 years of experience in the Indiana General Assembly, serving as an advocate for various companies, trade associations, municipalities and nonprofits. She also has served as Chief of Staff in the Indiana House of Representatives to Speaker Brian Bosma, as well as serving on the House Republican Caucus staff.
“Julie brings a wealth of experience to her new role and has built meaningful relationships in state government that will further the vision and mission of Ball State University,” Ferguson said. As Vice President, she will report directly to the President. “I have great respect for Julie and am looking forward to working closely with her as we advance the university.” Halbig will start at Ball State on Sept. 22.
“I have come to admire and appreciate the leadership of President Ferguson in the short period of time that I have known him. I believe we will be an effective team in promoting the success of Ball State University and our students,” Halbig said.
Halbig graduated from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indianapolis, in 2003, and was admitted to the Indiana Bar the same year. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science at Indiana University in Bloomington.
