Indiana University and Purdue University say preliminary discussions on the future management of IPFW will begin “soon.” A recent study by Indianapolis-based Policy Analytics LLC suggested transferring management of the school from Purdue to IU. September 17, 2014

News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., and WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana University and Purdue University today announced that the two institutions would soon begin preliminary talks regarding the future management of their shared campus in Fort Wayne, which currently is managed by Purdue.

These discussions will be focused on the feasibility of implementing the recommendations of the recent report by Policy Analytics, which called for management of the Fort Wayne campus to be transferred to IU.

The report was commissioned by the Northeast Regional Partnership, a Fort Wayne-area business organization, and the results were presented last month to the state budget committee. IU President Michael A. McRobbie has designated IU Vice President for Public Affairs and Government Relations Mike Sample to coordinate the talks on behalf of IU. Purdue President Mitch Daniels has named Vice President for Public Affairs Julie Griffith to lead these discussions for Purdue. An important element of this process will be meeting with IPFW for information-gathering purposes.

IU and Purdue have both offered courses and degree programs on a single campus in Fort Wayne, managed by Purdue, since 1964. Similarly, IU and Purdue share a campus in Indianapolis, which has been managed by IU since 1969.
