Anderson Starts Eminent Domain ProcessPosted: Updated:
The Anderson Redevelopment Commission is scheduled to consider a resolution Thursday to start the eminent domain process for a former Delco Remy facility. Our partners at The Anderson Herald Bulletin report city officials want to use the site for a new Purdue University College of Technology building. Purdue announced earlier this year that its College of Technology will allow space for 500 students and hundreds of entrepreneurs.
Plant 18 on Scatterfield Road is among properties scheduled for the Oct. 20 Madison County tax sale.
Hy-Tech Machining Systems owns the property, but reportedly owes more than $70,000 in taxes and $8,000 in utility bills.
If the Redevelopment Commission approves the resolution, it will be brought before the Anderson City Council for consideration.
The owner of the property has 30 days to appeal.
