Ivy Tech Community College Chief Operating Officer Jeff Terp says an event this morning in Lafayette is part of a continuing effort to keep Indiana businesses globally competitive. General Electric (NYSE: GE) executives and potential suppliers will take part in presentations and discussions about how the public, private and education sectors can help grow Indiana's manufacturing industry at home and abroad. Terp says training programs already in place are making a difference, saying GE cited the state's available work force and potential educational partnerships as factors in its decision to locate operations in Lafayette and South Bend.

Lafayette, Ind. — GE and Ivy Tech Community College will host an event at Ivy Tech's Lafayette, Indiana campus to elevate discussion about the steps needed to grow manufacturing at home and stay competitive abroad. GE leadership, suppliers, and other Indiana businesses will discuss what strategies have worked thus far and what more needs to be done to bolster Indiana's ability to export and compete globally.

Rep. Todd Rokita will provide remarks ahead of a keynote address by Brackett Denniston, Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel, GE. Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski will also lead a panel discussion featuring local businesses, suppliers, and community leaders.
