Governor Mike Pence says the Management and Performance Hub Technology Center is up and running. The governor says the hub was created without using tax dollars and will improve government effectiveness, efficiency and transparency. September 9, 2014

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Today, Governor Pence announced the completion of the Management and Performance Hub (MPH) Technology Center. The Technology Center, which houses the work of the Governor’s Management and Performance Hub (MPH) Initiative, aims to bring greater effectiveness, efficiency and transparency to state government, using cutting-edge, real-time data technology.

“Welcome to the future of state government, where Indiana will combine strong financial management with the speed of business,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Our MPH Technology Center will help us better collaborate to solve some of Indiana’s toughest problems, allowing state government to run more effectively, with enhanced efficiency, and with better transparency for taxpayers.”

The Technology Center will allow the Governor's Office, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and state agency analysts to access and visualize data in a variety of layouts and formats. These customizable options as well as the innovative design features of the Technology Center will allow analysts to collaborate in pursuit of innovative solutions to public policy problems.

The State has worked with SAP, a global software provider, to secure the technology necessary to power the MPH initiative.

“Contemporary analytics technologies such as the SAP HANA® platform are bringing once-unimaginable precision to fields as diverse as marketing and energy exploration, and innovative state and local governments are increasingly discovering the potential,” said Jennifer Morgan, President of SAP North America. “These governments are on the front lines of the fight against complex social challenges like infant mortality and recidivism; Indiana’s MPH is a potential model for state and local leaders grappling with multifaceted governance issues in their communities and regions.”

The completion of the Technology Center is the third major milestone of the MPH initiative. The first was Executive Order 14-6, which formally launched the initiative and created a system of data sharing among state agencies. The second was the launch of the MPH website, which can be found at www.in.gov/mph.

The MPH Technology Center was built at no additional cost to taxpayers. Funding for the MPH Technology Center comes from two sources: savings by consolidating six OMB employees out of leased space and into the Technology Center and a portion of the $500,000 grant to the State of Indiana from the Lilly Endowment for the MPH Initiative.
