HUNTINGTON, Ind. — At 1,209 students, fall 2014 enrollment at Huntington University has increased by 8 percent compared to fall 2013.
“We attribute the growth to solid recruiting in addition to faculty and staff working together focused on student success,” said Nate Perry, director of undergraduate admissions.
The graduate programs experienced the most significant increase to 134 students from 69 last fall, a 94 percent surge. Contributing to the boost is the fully-enrolled doctorate in occupational therapy program, new this fall, with 32 students.
“Our graduate programs grew across the board,” said Sara Diehl, assistant director for graduate and professional program enrollment. “Aside from the occupational therapy program, the largest growth was seen in the graduate counseling program with an increase of more than 60 percent with new students. Other new graduate programs in ministry and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) education added to the upward trend as well.”
The number of traditional undergraduate students improved to 977, a 3 percent bump from fall 2013. The 87 percent retention rate of freshmen to sophomores, freshmen in fall 2013 who persisted as sophomores in fall 2014, bolstered the strength of the class.
“This rate represents an 8 percent increase over last fall and is the highest retention rate in the university’s history,” said Scott Raymond, executive director of student success.
Students enrolled at Huntington University this fall hail from 35 different states, including far-flung states such as Maine, South Carolina, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and Hawaii. Nine percent of the student body are ethnic minorities. Forty-one international students represent 20 countries, including Argentina, Honduras, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest, and Forbes.com has listed the university as one of America’s Best Colleges. Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University is located on a contemporary, lakeside campus in northeast Indiana. FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Indiana Tech continues to grow, with total enrollment of 8,818 students for fall 2014. This is a 12 percent increase from fall 2013. The most notable growth is the climb in traditional undergraduate enrollment at the Fort Wayne campus, which is up nearly 23 percent.
Indiana Tech’s total enrollment includes students at the university’s main campus in Fort Wayne and its 14 regional campuses throughout Indiana and Kentucky, as well as online students.
“We are very proud to be serving more students of all types—young adults, mid-career learners, graduate students, Ph.D. students, law students,” said Dr. Arthur E. Snyder, Indiana Tech president. “Growth in every aspect of our university confirms that we are successfully providing education that students want and employers value. Our faculty and staff have worked hard to make Indiana Tech a thriving institution where students are part of a supportive community.”
To keep the momentum going, the university continues to add programs and facilities. For the 2014-15 academic year, Indiana Tech has added:
-An online master’s degree in psychology
-Three new concentrations for the bachelor’s degree in business administration: business communication, entrepreneurial studies, and financial services
-The new Academic Center on the Fort Wayne campus, providing additional classroom and lab space as well as the McMillen Library, a multi-flex theater, a caf?, the Franco D’Agostino Art Gallery, and the Ravi and Eleanor Talwar Leadership Center
-The Center for Creative Collaboration, housed in the Academic Center, to assist entrepreneurs and innovators in building their businesses
-A men’s ice hockey team, which will compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association
