Logistics Company Plans Cuts

Sellersburg-based Talon Logistics Services LLC has announced plans to lay off more than 60 workers. In a notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company says it will begin letting workers go next month. The company says the transportation and logistics side of its business is not being impacted. The company expects the "substantial" reductions to be permanent and stressed assistance will be provide for displaced workers including resume development, career counseling and personal references.

The company attributes the layoffs to the loss of business from its largest warehouse client.

Talon Logistics Services regretfully confirms that the company will experience a reduction in a portion of our overall employee base. This reduction only affects Talon’s warehouse operations, which is merely one aspect our company’s business model, and in no way changes or undermines Talon’s ongoing business in transportation and brokerage services currently offered.

Talon Logistics Services will continue to be a successful 15 million dollar enterprise providing truckload and flatbed services in the Midwest. In addition, Talon will also continue to operate a thriving brokerage service as well as providing additional warehouse services to numerous customers, thanks to the dedicated staff of over 50 employees.
