Hammond, Ind. — Members of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority’s board of directors approved a contract allowing the South Shore CVA to provide tourism promotion and development services for the Newton County Commissioners during their board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21.
According to the contract, the South Shore CVA will assist the Newton County Commissioners with growing the county's convention, visitor and tourism industry as well as assist in increasing the county's attractiveness as a destination.
“The Newton County Commissioners have seen value in the work the South Shore CVA has been doing for the Jasper County Tourism Commission as well as the entire South Shore, and they understand the potential for Newton County to benefit from the services we offer,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA.
Now that both the Newton County Commissioners and the South Shore CVA board of directors have approved the agreement, the South Shore CVA will develop a branding package that includes a logo, a slogan, catch phrasing and related materials. Additionally, the South Shore CVA will host and maintain the Newton County website within the South Shore CVA's website. The South Shore CVA will also produce marketing, advertising and promotional materials as well as assist with public and media relations guidance.
“In addition to having a major attraction like Fair Oaks Farms, Newton County offers much for the outdoor enthusiast,” explained Batistatos. “From camping and fishing, to bird watching and wildlife watching, Newton County is an attractive location for those looking to escape to a serene, outdoor setting.”
The partnership between the Newton County Commissioners and the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority follows the partnership between the Jasper County Tourism Commission and the South Shore CVA that was developed in February.
Vic DeMeyer, chairman of the South Shore CVA board of directors, believes that as the South Shore CVA expands their promotional efforts, new potential partners will understand the vision of the organization.
“As the South Shore CVA promotes the entire South Shore, visitors will have a seamless experience planning their stay,” said DeMeyer. “Because the South Shore CVA serves partners in six counties, the organization has the ability to promote the destination to a diverse variety of consumers.”
