Texas-based Rockwell American says it will expand its Angola plant and add up to 16 jobs by 2017. The company says it will add production of trailer and RV fenders at the plant in the coming months.

News Release

Angola, Ind. — Rockwell American plans to expand its Angola sales and distribution facility to include production of trailer and RV fenders in the coming months, creating up to 16 new jobs by 2017. The Azle, Texas company currently has production facilities in Plant City, FL, Sacramento, CA, Royce City, TX and Azle, which ship to 16 locations throughout the United States. The Angola production facility will serve markets in Indiana and surrounding states. Rockwell American leased the 22,000 sq. ft. facility in Angola in 2008, establishing a Midwest sales and distribution point with intentions to move into production. The impact of the Great Recession slowed plans for production but, in that time, Rockwell established a customer base and has proven to provide quality components for a variety of customers.

“Now was the time to move forward with manufacturing in Indiana.” stated Cecil Fugate, Senior Project Manager for Rockwell American. Adding, “Angola sits in the middle of our Midwest market.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Quality Trailer Products, LP dba Rockwell American up to $60,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.

“Indiana is a state of builders,” said Eric Doden, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “Hoosiers have the skills and work ethic required to build Rockwell American's trailer parts, just like our state builds other products that power our world. Indiana is a state that works, from our affordable business climate to our people.”

At its August 18th meeting the Angola City Council approved tax abatement for the company's planned investment of $300,000 in new machinery and equipment. Northeast Indiana Works has also committed to provide Rockwell American recruitment, screening and training assistance as they expand their workforce.

“We're happy Rockwell American decided to move production into the Angola facility,” stated Richard Hickman, Mayor of the City of Angola. “In the time they have been in the community, they have found this is a great location to serve their market and to find skilled workers. We look forward to working with Rockwell American as they grow their capacity and this facility.”

Rockwell American presently has five full time employees engaged in sales and distribution. An estimated $325,125 will be invested in building improvements and manufacturing equipment over the next four years.
