Rush Becomes Chief JusticePosted: Updated:
Loretta Rush has been sworn in as Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court. She is the first woman in history to hold the top position on the state's highest court. She succeeds Brent Dickson, who announced in June he was leaving the role.
Governor Mike Pence administered the oath of office at a ceremony Monday in the Supreme Court Law Library at the Statehouse.
She became an associate justice of the Supreme Court in 2012 following the retirement of Frank Sullivan.
