An Indianapolis sports-talk radio station will broadcast games for the Indy Fuel hockey team's 2014-15 season. Tony Brown will call the action on 1430 WXNT beginning in October. August 12, 2014

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — All 72 Indy Fuel regular season games, including all preseason and playoff action, will be broadcast on CBS Sports 1430 WXNT-AM and simulcast online and on mobile devices via CBSSports1430.com for the 2014-15 ECHL season, the team announced Tuesday.

“This is an exciting day for the Fuel as an organization and for our fans,” said Fuel President Sean Hallett on Tuesday. “Through this partnership with CBS Sports 1430 and our television partners at RTV6, Fuel fans will have non-stop access to Indy Fuel hockey both at home and on the road this season…We couldn’t be happier to be part of the Entercom family.”

“We’re excited about what this new partnership with the Indy Fuel means to hockey fans in Central Indiana,” said Entercom Indianapolis and CBS Sports 1430 Operations Manager JR Ammons on Tuesday. “This is a powerful opportunity for us to expand our local programming and instantly makes CBS Sports 1430 a destination for exclusive hockey play-by-play.”

Fuel Director of Media Relations/Radio Broadcaster Tony Brown will call the action for Fuel fans on CBS Sports 1430 beginning with the team’s first preseason game vs. the Alaska Aces, live from Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska at 11:00 pm EST on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014. A 2010 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and a Rochester, Minnesota native, Brown previously served as the radio voice of the USHL’s Omaha (NE) Lancers, the NAHL’s Odessa (TX) Jackalopes and the Northwoods Baseball League’s Willmar (MN) Stingers.

Brown, 26, says CBS Sports 1430 presents the Fuel with an ideal radio home. “We are more than thrilled to partner with Entercom this season and provide our fans with total access to Indy Fuel hockey in 2014-15,” said Brown Monday. “I look forward to an exciting inaugural season, a tremendous partnership with CBS Sports 1430 and a full-scale run at the Kelly Cup.”

In addition to Fuel game broadcasts, CBS Sports 1430’s “Kent Sterling Show” will also feature a weekly in-season guest appearance by Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman that will include an accompanying ticket giveaway.

A full broadcast schedule for the Fuel’s 2014-15 inaugural ECHL season on CBS Sports 1430 is attached, including details on live and tape-delayed broadcasts.

In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud “AA” affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL. Season ticket packages for the Fuel’s inaugural campaign are available now starting at just under $12 per game!
