An organization designed to better develop community leaders in central Indiana has announced three new board members. The additional Leadership Indianapolis directors include executives from Eli Lilly and Co. (NYSE: LLY), WellPoint Inc. (NYSE: WLP) and the public relations industry. July 29, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three additional board members have been named to the Leadership Indianapolis Board of Directors. Sherrie Bossung, Bruce Hetrick and Mark Palmenter have joined the thirteen existing directors who were named at the formation of Leadership Indianapolis in 2013.

Sherrie Bossung, RN, MBA, is the Director of Community Outreach and Employee Engagement at Eli Lilly and Company and Vice President of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation where she oversees community outreach and employee engagement for the company. Sherrie is a graduate of Leadership Indianapolis’ Opportunity Indianapolis program.

Bruce Hetrick is a 35-year veteran of public relations, advertising and journalism. He’s worked as a mayoral press secretary, an East Coast ad-agency executive, Methodist Hospital’s marketing and PR director, and head of his own PR and advertising agency. He’s now a visiting professor for the IU School of Journalism at IUPUI and runs a solo PR consultancy called Powerful Appeals, Inc. He is a graduate of Leadership Greater Hartford (1986), and helped create and launch Hartford’s Common Ground youth leadership program.

Mark Palmenter is the Director of Enterprise Strategy & Multicultural Marketing at WellPoint. His team is responsible for multicultural consumer experience, engagement, and acquisition strategies across the country. Mark is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series® Class XXXIII.

Leadership Indianapolis was formed in 2013 when the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL) and Lacy Leadership Association (LLA) united to create a new entity focused on strategically and intentionally building the pipeline of community leaders by training, educating, inspiring and engaging them to improve the greater Indianapolis community.
