Indiana Tech hopes an initiative, set to launch Friday, will help turn ideas and early-stage startups into successful companies. Center For Creative Collaboration Executive Director Mark Richter says the effort will connect entrepreneurs with the school's business, law and engineering experts. He says the center in Fort Wayne will target a “pretty big universe” of startups with a technology basis and growth potential. Richter discussed who is eligible to participate in the “C3” during the (i) on Education segment on Inside INdiana Business Television. The school says the “C3” will be multidisciplinary and open to everyone.

Richter says the process began more than a year ago, when the Lilly Endowment Inc. issued a request for proposals focusing on entrepreneurship and job creation. He says university leaders believed startup business was in the school's “basic DNA,” which led to the idea.

Indiana Tech says entrepreneurs will have access to “hand-picked teams” of faculty, staff, students and mentors. The school has also set up a $500,000 venture fund.
