A Floyd County nursing facility says a major renovation project is complete. The $800,000 expansion and makeover at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany took six months to finish. July 29, 2014

News Release

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — One Southern Indiana Chamber and Economic Development assisted Green Valley Care Center as they celebrated its newly remodeled facility during a ribbon cutting on Thursday, July 24. Green Valley’s current renovations took six months to complete adding approximately 1,000 square feet of additional living space and six private suites at a total of $800,000. Indiana State Representative of the 72nd District, Ed Clere and Indiana State Senator Ron Grooms joined the ribbon cutting celebration.

Green Valley Care Center’s executive director, Jesse Ray, who has spent a total of six years with Life Care Centers of America, two of those at Green Valley, said the facility was in need of the changes. “The dining room had a full renovation,” he said. “Of the 100 – 200 homes, 11 – 12 private rooms were renovated and are now equipped with 42” televisions that are high tech and high touch and pull out couch beds.”

Rep. Clere, who serves as chairman of the Public Health Committee for the Indiana State Representatives stated that long term care businesses are vital to the business community. “Health care, especially long term care, is a major part of the economy and important to the economic life of the community,” said Clere. He also commended Green Valley Care Center for its reinvestment in the community.

As a member of the Indiana State Senate Health and Provider Services Committee, Senator Grooms stated that he has been in the community and visited various nursing facilities in Clark and Floyd counties. Senator Grooms said he is pleased to know people in the healthcare field and added that there has been a dramatic increase in facilities like this and it is good to see the investment in this community.

Ray added that RR Construction was hired to complete the renovations.
